Marlowe Innovation Centre partnership with Royal Harbour AcademyMIC

The Sixth Form at The Royal Harbour Academy are very pleased to be forming strong links with The Marlowe Innovation Centre and their tenants.

Students are fortunate to have opportunities opened up to them, whether it be students touring the business centre to gain an insight into a professional working environment or placing students with tenants for work experience.

On 10th May, three members from the Marlowe Innovation Centre and seven tenants took part in a speed dating style event hosted by The Royal Harbour Academy. It involved 60 sixth form students who spent three minutes per business, asking various questions, including how they started their business, what qualifications they needed and tips for future success. The focus of the event was to help students engage with professional people and gain as much information as possible from the various businesses that were in attendance.

Lee Jackson, Managing Director of Right at Home East Kent, an MIC tenant said: ‘I was very impressed with the way the students conducted themselves, their level of engagement and how they behaved in a mature way.’

Joel Helbling, Year 12 student said: ‘I found the event very helpful for learning about business opportunities.’

Our thanks to those businesses that took part, Right at Home East Kent, 1st Impressions Dental Service, Excel Mortgages, Priory Prosthetics Dental Laboratory, Spectrum Vessel Services, Jackie Raines Computer Training and AH Maintenance & Gardening.
