E&H Creates Business Entrepreneurs of the Future!sam01

In year 10 students have the opportunity to study an NCFE LEVEL 2 Certificate in Business Enterprise. As a part of their course work they must set up their own company and create, build and sell their own products.

Some of the companies that students have created include the ‘Twinnies Cup Cake Company’, ‘The JJA Badge Company’ and ‘Funky Fudge Cake Company’.  Students have made and sold a range of products from Christmas cards, badges and cakes to notelet designs based on local places of interest in Ramsgate.  Sam Harris (YR 10), who is studying Art and Design at the E&H has drawn St George’s Church and the Harbour in Ramsgate for his card designs.

Among those taking part were Gary-Lee Walkers, who trains at the Hornets Academy. It was his debut fight and he did not disappoint, getting the better of Kieron Pierce, from Hastings.

Ofsted hails schools rapid improvement.ofsted

New head delighted at Ellington and Hereson report.

Rapid improvements at the Ellington and Hereson School in Ramsgate have earned it a good grading from Ofsted. Inspectors viewed 29 lessons, school assemblies and liased with teachers and pupils during the visit in October 2012.

In their report, they noted: “the rigorous focus on teaching is driving up improvement and has rapidly addressed weaknesses identified in the last inspection." Praise was also given for strong progress in maths and predictions made that year 11 performances will rise again this year.

The verdict is good news for head teacher Simon Pullen who took on the top role this September after the retirement of the former head Tony Hamson. Mr Pullen, former head of Dane Court Grammar, said he was “delighted” with the good grading across the board awarded to the school.
