Year 9 OptionsRHA

Thank you for completing and returning your son/daughter’s Year 9 Options Form. We are now in the position to begin the timetabling process for the 2016-2017 Academic Year, and will confirm option choices by the end of May 2016.

Should you have any concerns about your son/daughter’s option choices and would like an individual consultation with a member of the Senior Leadership Team, please contact the school office.

May I also take this opportunity to give you early notification of our Year 9 Parents’ Evening which will take place on Wednesday 11th May, 6:00 – 8:00pm, at the Lower Site. I will write to you with further details nearer the time.

Local Author visits RHA Reading Activistsmatt

On Wednesday 2nd March, Royal Harbour Academy Reading Activists were visited by local author Matthew Munson. Matthew spent time answering questions about his life and how he became a writer. He also gave some valuable advice about finding inspiration and creating good stories and presented signed copies of his books to the school library.

Thanet Parachute Association Visit 6th Form StudentsTPA

Pat Wakerell and Bill Thomson (Thanet Parachute Association), both veterans of Cold War conflicts, were on hand last Thursday to share experiences and help Year 13s with their studies on the events of the Suez Crisis. Next month these students will embark on their final exams in the school as part of the History aspect of their International Baccalaureate Career Related Certificate.

Royal Harbour Academy Annual Ski Tripski 02

On Saturday 30th January, Royal Harbour Academy students set off on their journey to the beautiful Aosta Valley, Italy, for a week of skiing. For three of these students, it was the first time they put on skis and took to the majestic snow slopes. The students benefitted from professional ski instruction from two excellent instructors, Freddie and Dave.

RHA Rugby First Match of 2016

The Royal Harbour Academy is making the most of great links with Thanet Wanderers and coaching staff at the RFU have been giving coaching support as well as refereeing matches and upcoming tournaments.

Thursday 21st February saw the first game of rugby for the Royal Harbour Academy! A joint Year 11 and Sixth Form team played St Georges under the flood lights. RHA played really well against a very strong team, with the St Georges team becoming the proud victors.

All students who took part are to be congratulated for their team effort and good sportsmanship. Many students and staff braved the cold to watch the match, and their support was greatly appreciated.

RHA Build Community Sport LinksRHA

Thanet Schools are working hard to raise the status and importance of sport and physical activity. Since the opening of Royal Harbour Academy, Subject Leader for PE, Mickey Capeling has been driving this forward by building links with sports clubs within the community.

Through these links the Royal Harbour Academy has been able to offer students the opportunity to engage in an array of sports activities.
