Our mission statement is "The Royal Harbour Academy is a proud community built upon success, high aspirations and a global outlook."
Our aim is that every student at the Royal Harbour Academy gains life skills and qualifications that will allow them to lead happy and fulfilled lives whether their next steps are in education, employment or further training. It is good to know that year on year all of our students either stay on in our sixth form, go to other local schools or secure full time employment in the workplace. Having previously been Headteacher at Dane Court Grammar School, I am pleased that the school is part of the Coastal Academies Trust, which not only includes Dane Court Grammar School but a number of other local schools. This provides benefits to both students and staff through, amongst other things, collaboration and exchange of good practice. Like myself, the Trust is determined that every child has real success and the schools work collaboratively to achieve this aim.
Congratulations to the year 7 rounders team who won the 2018 Thanet Rounders Tournament today! A great result which was achieved through hard work, team work and dedication. 7 local schools took part in the tournament. The Royal Harbour Academy came in first, with Dane Court closely behind in 2nd place. Special mention goes to Paige Cooke who captained the team, Isabel Povey for her outstanding fielding, and Julia Saszkiewicz for her powerful batting. Well done to everyone!
15 Year 7 girls were selected to attend a special event hosted at the University to try and encourage young females to consider a career in engineering. The girls were deservedly selected based on their effort and progress in Science throughout year 7.
In February, pupils from years 7 and 8 took part in a creative writing competition. Year 7 had to write a description of a meal, inspired by Nigel Slater’s novel, Toast. Year 8 were asked to write the first chapter of a sequel to the novel they had been reading in class, Robert Swindells’ Stone Cold.
We have had a fantastic term for celebrating the outstanding effort that students have been consistently putting into their lessons and the life of the school. Swathes of achievement certificates have been given out in assemblies and a number of reward trips were organised which is testament to the hard work of our students.
