Meet an Employer Day

Apprentice Kent brought our latest Meet an Employer event to the Royal Harbour Academy with great success.

Students from the Royal Harbour Academy, along with students from other local schools took part in mock interviews with local employers, East Kent college and representatives from the University of Kent, Greenwich University and Canterbury Christ Church University, who offer Higher/Degree level apprenticeships. They were then given feedback on their interview technique and were able to discuss how they could improve their skills and be more prepared for a real interview.

The students had the chance to discuss with the universities and East Kent college the range of Higher and Degree apprenticeships available and gain a better understanding of how to access there.

Vicky, the Apprenticeship Ambassador from The Skills and Employability Service in Kent County Council, gave an all-encompassing talk on apprenticeship pathways and how to search and apply via their website. Ultimately, the aim of the event was to prepare students for interview and give them a clear understanding of what options are available to them and leave with a well-rounded view of Higher/Degree apprenticeships.

Feedback from the event shows that students came away feeling more confident and clear about the next steps they need to take, with the employers, universities and East Kent college being equally impressed by the calibre of the students they met – some of whom they would have readily offered opportunities to!
