Report: OFSTED Monitoring Inspection 2019
Dear Parents and Carers
I am writing to share some really good news about how we have been judged in our recent Ofsted monitoring inspection which took place on 6 February 2019. The inspection was carried out by an experienced inspector who commented very positively on how the school has improved and continues to do so.
A copy of the report is available on our website for you to read, and will be sent to you via the MyEd App, but I would like to provide a brief summary of some of the key points.
The inspector saw that the school has a ‘purposeful atmosphere’ and that students are focused on their learning. The school has acted decisively to improve the quality of teaching and she pointed out from her own observations and following conversations with students, that lessons are now better structured and provide a more suitable level of challenge for everyone. In addition to commenting generally on lessons, she also praised the school’s innovative Year 7 curriculum which she felt addressed both the academic needs of our younger students and enabled a smooth transition from primary school.
Throughout the report the inspector made reference to the good support we get from the Coastal Academies Trust including both Dane Court Grammar School and King Ethelbert School and she was clear that results for Year 11 students are improving year on year.
The improvements in the school are due to the hard work of the students, the dedication of all our staff and your continued support as parents and carers for which I am ever grateful.
If you would like a hard copy of the full report, please contact the school office and they will arrange this for you.
