Safeguarding and Welfare
‘The care and concern that staff demonstrate for student’s day in, day out. Pupils speak extremely positively about the way there is always someone looking out for them. This helps them to feel safe.’
‘Pupils are confident that staff will listen to them and take them seriously if they have any worries. They learn about how to identify risk and keep themselves safe, including online and in the local community.’
All staff and Governors at the Royal Harbour Academy have a full and active part to play in Safeguarding and Child Protection. The health, safety and welfare of all our students is our paramount concern and all staff are regularly trained in how to Safeguard and Protect every student in our care.
In cases where a child is suspected of being a victim of physical or emotional harm or neglect it is the responsibility of the schools Designated Safeguarding Lead and his Deputy, Mrs Claire Amos, to take appropriate action. This may mean monitoring the behaviour of a student or making a referral to an outside agency, such as the Child Protection Agency.
