A number of our geography students at The Royal Harbour Academy have
entered the annual Royal Geographical Society’s Young Geographer of the Year
competition. This year, students from across the country were required to
produce a poster that investigated at least two islands, exploring their locations
and unique geography across people, places and environments, as well as
demonstrating the ways in which these islands are connected via geographical
themes, challenges and solutions. Twelve students from Year 7 to Year 10
undertook independent research in order to produce fabulous entries into the
competition, not only providing themselves with the chance to become THE
Young Geographer of the year, but also improving their own geographical
knowledge. We would like to congratulate the following students for their
excellent efforts that has led to them receiving certificates of commendation
from the Royal Geographical Society:
The winning students are Emilija, James, Angeleena from Year 9 and Gabriel from Year 10 and Michelle and Elsa from Year 7.
The Royal Geographical Society will be in contact in the near future to inform us of whether any further awards will be received. We wish them the best of luck!
