Royal Harbour Academy Celebrates Student Achievement with End-of-Year Reward Trips and Celebration Events

As the academic year draws to a close, our school has been celebrating the achievements, progress, and dedication of our students through a series of exciting reward trips and our annual Celebration Events.

Throughout the year, students have shown resilience, commitment, and determination in their learning. To recognise their achievements, students selected by their form tutors for excellent progress, positive attitudes, and success were rewarded with a choice of memorable end-of-year experiences.

Year 7 and Year 8 students enjoyed either a summer reward trip to Betteshanger Park, where they took part in Bonnie's survival school and Nightline adventure, or a visit to the Vue Cinema to watch Minions and Monsters. Year 9 and Year 10 students were invited to attend one or both reward experiences, including a cinema visit to watch Supergirl and an energetic session at the trampoline park.

Our students thoroughly enjoyed their reward trips, creating lasting memories while celebrating all of their hard work and achievements throughout the year. These experiences gave them the opportunity to relax, have fun with their friends, and build confidence outside the classroom. Rewarding students for their effort, positive behaviour, and commitment helps to recognise their successes and encourages them to continue striving for their best. Ending the school year on such a positive note is a wonderful way to celebrate everything they have accomplished, strengthen our school community, and send everyone into the summer holidays feeling proud, valued, and motivated for the year ahead. 

The celebrations continued with our annual Celebration Events, where parents and carers of students in Years 7, 8, 9, 10 and 12 were invited to join staff in recognising the achievements of our students throughout the academic year. 

During the ceremonies, students received certificates celebrating their progress, commitment, achievements, and contributions to school life. The event provided an opportunity to celebrate the dedication of our students across all areas of learning and personal development.

A highlight of the afternoon was the presentation of the IB Learner Profile Awards. Students from each year group were recognised for demonstrating the qualities of the IB Learner Profile, including:

• Communicator

• Principled

• Open-Minded

• Caring

• Risk-Taker

• Balanced

These awards celebrate students who consistently demonstrate these qualities through their learning, relationships, and contributions to the wider school community.

This year also marked the introduction of the Ready, Honourable and Aspirational Shield, a new annual award recognising students who best represent our school values. One student from each year group was selected for consistently demonstrating these qualities throughout the year. Each recipient has their name engraved on the school shield, which will be proudly displayed in the school cabinet as a lasting celebration of their achievement and an inspiration for future students.

The Celebration Events were made even more special through the support and dedication of our staff. Students, parents, carers, and guests enjoyed ice creams, hot dogs, and beautifully decorated cupcakes, all freshly prepared by our in-house catering team, led by Gill Cook. Additional food was created by our Food Technology teachers and students, with special thanks to Tracey Todd and Ben Leverton for their hard work and support in making the event such a success.

Following each ceremony, parents and carers had the opportunity to meet with their child’s teachers to celebrate achievements, reflect on progress, and discuss the successes of the year. Students also enjoyed capturing special memories through photographs with their families, friends, and members of staff.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Sarah Snaydon, Chair of the Governors, and to our governors, Nicola Robinson and Shelley Furlong, for taking the time to attend this special event. Your encouragement, commitment, and presence mean a great deal to our school community. Thank you for your continued support of our students and for helping to make these celebrations even more memorable. 

As we look ahead to the new academic year, we wish all our students and families a safe, relaxing, and enjoyable summer break and look forward to welcoming everyone back for another year of learning, opportunity, and success.
