​We take careers education seriously - The Royal Harbour Academy believes careers education is the foundation of a school's mission. Employment is crucial, but wellbeing and happiness in employment is fundamental. We strive to assist young people on their journey, helping them find their talents, raising and sustaining their ambition and ultimately helping them gain quality qualifications in a broad range of subject areas.

The Royal Harbour Academy believes in global citizenship and careers education is an important aspect of creating driven, caring and helpful young people. We are all defined by the choices we make, our directions supports the choices our young people make.

Careers Policy

  • All of our students to understand the full range of opportunities available to them, to learn from employers about work and the skills that are valued in the workplace, and to have first-hand experience of the workplace; 

  • All of our students to receive an excellent programme of advice and guidance that is delivered by individuals with the right skills and experience; 

  • All of our students to receive support tailored to their circumstances. All students should be able to access free face-to-face advice, with more bespoke support for those who most need it;

  • All of our students to get the information they need to understand the job and career opportunities available and how their knowledge and skills can help them in considering suitable careers.

Our Goals

Our careers curriculum is delivered in weekly sessions of 20 minutes. These sessions include personal target setting, understanding human emotion and communication and a wide-range of activities to do with the working world.

Our careers road-map outlines the journey our young people take from Years 7 - 11. This journey will equip our young learners for the world of work, from gaining meaningful employment to dealing with the life of work. We follow the Gatsby Benchmark guidelines carefully to ensure careers education is meaningful and has a lasting impact.
