Curriculum Intent

The Royal Harbour Academy provides a broad curriculum that caters for the full range of student ability.  In order to implement our curriculum effectively, teachers have expert subject knowledge, accurately differentiate learning for a very broad range of abilities and intended future pathways and have an intimate knowledge of each student’s strengths and weaknesses in order to ensure expert guidance for future pathways. Teachers are also role models, with high expectations and aspirations. They work well in teams and take personal and collective responsibility for student outcomes.

Our curriculum intends to provide our students with the expert knowledge and skills that they will need to function effectively as working adults, as well as developing the qualities needed to be happy and fulfilled in their lives. Our curriculum is intended to develop our students as individuals, capable of forming their own opinions based on sound evidence and on challenging wrong, based on a sound moral outlook. It does not seek to enforce conformity or blind obedience, but aims to instil a sense of ownership of British culture and society.

Curriculum Breakdown

The curriculum is planned to ensure we create a positive and supportive environment for all students, without exception. We have an inclusive curriculum that removes barriers to learning and participation, provides a learning experience that is appropriate to students needs, and promotes high standards and the fulfilment of potential for all our students.

Our curriculum is routinely reviewed to fully comply with the Equality Act 2010, and the Special Educational Needs and Disability Regulations 2014.
