This year, over 500 poems were entered into the Canterbury Festival School Poetry Competition, and we are delighted to share the wonderful news that Mark, one of our talented Year 11 students, has been shortlisted in the 12-15 age category. As part of this achievement, Mark has been invited to the Poetry Competition Showcase to read his poem on Thursday 2nd October, at the Gulbenkian Arts Centre.
This is a fantastic accomplishment, recognising Mark’s creativity, talent, and hard work. Being shortlisted in such a respected competition is something to be immensely proud of, and we are thrilled to see his efforts celebrated on a larger stage.
In addition to the showcase reading, all shortlisted poems, including Mark’s, will be published in a printed anthology, giving his work a lasting place in the wider literary community.
As a school, we could not be prouder. Opportunities like this highlight the incredible talent of our students and the importance of celebrating the arts. We wish Mark the very best as he takes part in this exciting event.
