On Friday 4th March, Mrs Johnson, Mr Goodall and Mrs Belcher took 3 Year 12 IB students to the Power of Women Thanet lantern parade along Margate seafront. Mrs Belcher’s children joined the parade which was to commemorate the 45th anniversary of ‘Reclaim the Night’ marches that call for an end to violence against women.
The students made the lanterns in the IB visual arts class with all the materials provided by POW.
The march ended at Turner Contemporary with the participants joining artist, Jodi Watson, singing ‘Peace, Salaam, Shalom’ which was especially poignant with the situation in Ukraine at the moment.
The staff and students all thoroughly enjoyed the experience and look forward to taking part in future events.
