Custard Pies and Community Kindness: Successful School Fundraiser

Date: Friday 28th November 2025

Where: The Royal Harbour Academy

On 28th November, our school community came together for a fantastic fundraising evening in support of the Year 11 Prom and the Food Parcel Initiative, which provides essential support to vulnerable families within our community. Mrs Cook organised the raffle prizes, with proceeds going towards food parcels, while the school’s admin team organised the rest of the evening, working together to create a memorable event for all involved.

Students from Year 11, along with their families and members of staff, were invited to enjoy an evening of fun, food, and entertainment. The night featured an exciting raffle with a wonderful selection of prizes, including cream tea at Walpole Bay Hotel, ice skating at Quex Park, family tickets to see Aladdin at The Granville, and many more generously donated prizes.

Thanks to the incredible support from those who purchased tickets and attended the event, we are delighted to announce that a total of £1,504 was raised. This amount will make a significant contribution toward creating a memorable prom experience for our Year 11 students, as well as helping provide vital food parcels to families in need. At a time when many families are feeling the pressures of the ongoing cost-of-living crisis, these food parcels are our way of helping to ease a little of the stress and provide practical support for those who need it most.

One of the highlights of the evening and certainly the biggest surprise was a lively bidding war for the opportunity to custard pie members of staff. Our Head of Year 11, Mr Watkins, and Assistant Head of Year 11, Mr Priest, bravely volunteered as tributes, with Mr Wall thrown in for good measure. The bidding war alone raised an impressive £80.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported the event, donated prizes, purchased tickets, or joined us on the night. Your generosity and community spirit made the evening truly special.

Thank you for helping us make a difference together.
