Exploring our Local Coastline

Over the last term, Year 7 and 8 took part on a geography field trip to study coastal erosion and ecosystems. Each class spent a day investigating coastal processes at Botany Bay, Kingsgate. The students worked in groups and individually to collect a range of data, including conducting field sketches, public surveys and sediment analysis.

The weather was on our side and we were lucky enough to spot lots of crabs, star fish, jelly fish and shrimps whilst rock pooling. Finally, the students finished the day by creating some beautiful sand art and completing a beach clean. Since returning to school, students have been busy writing up their findings into their first fieldwork report.
