On Tuesday 29th April we proudly hosted our Careers Fair, offering an exciting and eye-opening experience for Year 7 students all the way through to Sixth Form. This landmark event welcomed not far short of 1,000 students through our doors, many of whom have recently joined us from the Lower Site and were given the opportunity to explore the Upper Site as part of the day’s activities.
Students engaged in meaningful interactions with a wide range of representatives from employers, businesses, universities, and colleges. The fair opened their eyes to the many diverse career pathways available to them in the future. Attendees were introduced to professions in healthcare, the armed services, police, engineering, history, construction, law, maintenance, border force, crime scene investigation, beauty, hospitality and catering, and many more.
The event was designed to be more than just informational; it was immersive, inspiring, and tailored to spark curiosity and ambition in our students. From hands-on demonstrations to real-life conversations with professionals, every moment contributed to making career aspirations feel tangible and achievable.
These early career experiences are invaluable for our students, giving them a unique opportunity to explore various career pathways, which will help them in making decisions about their future studies. It’s crucial that our students are exposed to a broad range of professions at this stage, helping them understand the possibilities available and encouraging them to think about their skills, passions, and potential future careers.
Mrs Nash from San Clu Hotel shared that one student approached her with a genuine interest in the hospitality industry, asking a number of thoughtful and inquisitive questions. She described it as a lovely and encouraging moment to witness such enthusiasm.
The fair was also a fantastic opportunity for Year 11 students, who are currently considering their post-16 options. With representation from Kent & Medway Medical School, EKC College, the University of Winchester, and the University of Kent, students had the chance to explore what further and higher education could look like. These conversations provided valuable insight for those considering university pathways and gave students the opportunity to ask specific questions about courses, entry requirements, and career outcomes.
Mr. Matthews, who organised the event, expressed his gratitude:
"Massive thanks of course to EBP who have worked tirelessly to get all those visitors in to provide such a valuable experience for our students. And a huge thank you goes out to every individual and organisation that contributed to the day’s success. Your time, effort, and enthusiasm made a real impact."
