Intent

To equip all students to use computational thinking and creativity to understand and change the world. To be digitally literate, happy, resilient and active participants in their local and wider digital communities. Our lessons are informative but exciting, which creates a spark in students that will foster their love for technology.

In the computing department we want our students to enjoy and embrace technology, and raise their aspirations through a creative, challenging, and broad curriculum.

We have a sequenced and planned curriculum led by subject specialists, based on evidence and research.

The computer science curriculum is sequenced to allow progression to enable students to be digital literate and enjoy technology. We encourage progression through our curriculum by using PRIMM - Year 7 + 8 block to text, different skill sets and a Year 9 large programming project instead of smaller programmes; so combining learnt skills together instead of focusing on them individually. We then review students' work and adapt our curriculum to meet their needs.

Overview

Computers are incredibly fast, accurate, and stupid. Human beings are incredibily slow, inaccurate, and brilliant. Together they are powerful beyond imagination
