The Royal Harbour

Academy

Intent

The intent of drama at The Royal Harbour Academy is to foster confident, creative, and expressive individuals who can understand and appreciate the power of storytelling and communication. We aim to develop students who can collaborate, think critically, and express their thoughts and ideas, while being inspired by diverse cultural and theatrical traditions. Drama offers a space for students to explore and understand themselves, others, and the world around them, nurturing empathy, resilience, and self-awareness.

We believe that drama is a vital part of a well-rounded education as it encourages self-expression, emotional intelligence, and confidence. Through drama, students develop essential life skills such as teamwork, leadership, and problem-solving, which are crucial for their personal development and future success. It aligns with our school’s commitment to nurturing happy, knowledgeable, and resilient learners who are equipped to lead brilliant lives.

The drama curriculum at The Royal Harbour Academy is designed by specialists who are passionate about the subject. It is delivered through engaging, practical, and collaborative lessons that challenge students to explore various theatrical forms, techniques, and genres. Students regularly engage in performances, group work, and reflective practices that build on prior knowledge and skills. We provide opportunities to experience live theatre, work with industry professionals, and participate in school productions, ensuring that learning is both relevant and inspiring.
