Intent
Students will explore the concept of identity and belonging, considering both individual and community perspectives. They will engage with questions like "Where do we belong?" and "What does it mean to belong to a faith community?" to foster an understanding of religious and social identities.
The curriculum encourages critical reflection on how the values of Jesus can be applied in modern society, asking, "What would Jesus do?" and considering the radical nature of his teachings. This will enable students to evaluate ethical challenges in the twenty-first century and their relevance to contemporary life.
They will consider religion’s role in society through topics like "How can religion support equality?" and "Do we need to prove God’s existence?". Students will examine how religion interacts with societal values. They will also explore diverse religious perspectives; including what it means to be a Buddhist or Muslim in the world today, and the moral implications of using religious assets to address social issues, such as "Should religious buildings be sold to feed the starving?"
