Music allows young people to develop their confidence and creativity through performance, appraisal and composition. It allows young people to develop an understanding of cultures globally and locally through listening to a wide variety of genres. Music allows for young people to develop their cross-curricular skills, such as inquiry, open-mindedness, communication and problem solving. Music also fosters a sense of accomplishment for young people through their performances, therefore focusing on developing and nurturing the young people to become happy, resilient and open-minded lifelong learners.

Designed by subject specialists, our curriculum, which is creative and challenging, offers a breadth of academic and cultural opportunities. The music curriculum is evaluated regularly for the relevance and impact of learning and teaching. This ensures that lessons are engaging, innovative and challenging. Students have opportunities to experience a diverse array of genres and styles, perform and compose and evaluate on a regular basis. This allows for students to be fully submerged in music during lessons. The spiral designs of the music curriculum allows students to build on prior learning and experiences to allow for progress in knowledge, skills and understanding.
